Believe it or not, Ralphie has changed quite a bit over the years. His hands and feet have stayed relatively consistant (rendered better, I hope) but his face has a very different look. The eyes are connected and, a few years ago, I started making his pupils look a little "crazy"; one above the other. Adding light reflection in his pupils gave Ralphie some "life" as well.
These days, Ralphie has a personality of his own and I find it more difficult to use him as a cartoon impressionist. You'd think after 20 odd years, I'd know just how this character ticks, but I have to "meet" him again every time I draw him.
Incidentally, Ralphie is named after my Dad, the original Ralph E. Hearn.
You know, I'm not sure I ever told Pop about that.
